Baby Cool

So when I laid eyes on this I nearly DIED because it was quite possibly the coolest boy thing I have ever seen. Let me set up the scene for you. I am at work and this mother comes in and clearly has a stroller with a young baby in it and then I see she has another child that's a boy not sure on the age because I'm really bad at anything related to children but I could tell he was possibly between 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 but he's floating. I know you're probably thinking wait what?? Floating. Yes floating well that's what I thought because I had a big table blocking the rest of my view then as she turns the corner I see this . . .

Here is a better view of what I'm talking about

Okay how cool is this thing?!? Now mind you the little boy who was riding on this little skate board totally looked the part. He had these cool khaki's on, a short sleeved plaid shirt, and this cool fedora. Not just any kid can pull this look off. So I had to go chat with the mother and find out about this cool add-on. So I asked her about it and she said she didn't want a double stroller because they were so bulky and plus he would never stay put and saw this cool add on and he loves riding around on it.
There is a little handle so they can hang on but I must say this cool add on is making having a boy a little more appealing. No I'm not pregnant but I am dead set when that time comes that I will have a girl (I know it's a 50/50 chance here, however I would like to increase those chances to 95% a girl and 5% a boy). But with this cool side kick it makes having a boy a little more cooler. Gosh all the hip things they come out with for these kids.

Although one observation I have had with people who have children is all the same questions you must endure. How old is he/she, what is their name, etc. I think when I become a parent I would be one of those snarky people who would totally lie about their name and same something so stupid like, "Oh her name is Dazzle." Yes I know it's mean but why not have some fun with it right???

Workout Wednesday

I'm sure you know by now I'm into extreme work outs I mean that is how I ended up at Crossfit and ended up loving it actually it becoming an obsession let's just be honest here. So I've always been up to some extreme ways to stay fit so when I heard about the Warrior Dash it sparked my interest in every way. Although I have to admit I have watched the video several times and I feel very very intimidated by this dash. However let's be real here to me a dash is like a 50 yard dash this is a 3.06 mile dash that's a little more than a dash thats like a 5k let's be honest.

I'm not a great runner so the distance piece really intimidates me because what if it takes me forever to get through the distance piece then on top of the distance I then have to do obstacles. Some of them look doable but others look hard! It really is a suppose to be a fun and team activity so I have still left the idea of signing up on the table but we shall see because the deadline is ticking.

Are you signing up for any races this season??

Spring Time = Spring Clean

Since I was getting my paperwork prepared to get my taxes done this year- which by the way totally stressed me out. We have an accountant but I was convinced that this year we were going to owe because we don't have very many write offs and we made more money this year (score!). I would have nightmares of having to owe the government thousands and thousands of dollars. I went to our accountant and WOW did we make out this year. Who knew that getting married was such a good benefit I mean obviously besides getting married because you're in love with the other person and want to spend the rest of your life with them. Now whenever I get mad at my husband I just need to think of that nice tax benefit I will I mean we will get at the end of the year. Just make it through another year. Then when I hear how much money you get back for having a child- let me tell ya it has made the idea of procreating more appealing to me. My vagina still hates the idea but my wallet is still considering the idea.

So anyways when I was getting all my paperwork ready I realized that I have completely neglected my office space which mind you I am in this space at least once or twice a day. I guess I was jut good at putting my blinders on but now that my taxes are done I needed to tackle my office space and give it some TLC. Now I didn't take before pictures (sorry!) however I got hard at work purging files, documents, reorganizing and making it an effective work space. Now I would like to stop at the containerstore and get some more goodies for my office space but here is what I did with what I had.

I can't wait to pick up a few more things around my area and make some small changes to make it a more effective and fun work space for me.

Manni Monday

So with Spring only a couple of weeks away (yay!) I decided to see what was hot for Spring nail trends because we all know I'm always looking for the new "it" color of the season. While I still love my neutrals and pinks I did see some trends that were sure eye catching.

I honestly don't know how I feel about this color, I saw it on Essie's Spring line up and I wasn't loving and I have to say I'm still not loving. I guess if your a darker skin tone it may look better than on someone who is has a lighter skin tone.

I have to say I think if you find the right color of this shade I think it could be fabulous especially with a good summer tan.

I don't agree with painting all your nails in glitter but I am still such a fan of painting the one finger with a fun glitter. Plus now with all the companies coming out with a glitter assortment you are bound to find a great glitter.

I love my neutrals- and I love how they call it Foundation Nails- again this is a hard color to find the "perfect" shade for your skin tone but once you do buy in bulk! Make it your signature color.

A perfect Easter basket of colors, loving the Chanel color- I may have to go check that out.

Neon is in! Everywhere I look I see Neon clothes and colors and with nails to match I am loving.

I am loving every color in this picture. I think you couldn't go wrong with any one of these colors.

I'm such a firm believer in having a signature color- you can even have a signature color for every season, color, time of year, etc. Test different colors out, see what you like and test out different shades of it. A red isn't just a red there are so many different reds. For example, my signature red color is Big Red Apple by OPI. Have fun and play and sample different colors!

Bye Bye Baby

This could very well be one of the hardest things I ever do, okay maybe ever is being a little dramatic but it's going to be really really hard. I mean I know there are a lot of things in life that are hard like moving, planning to have a family, child birth (ugh gross!), raising a child, etc. however none of that is what I'm talking about. What I'm talking about is giving up coffee but more specifically Starbucks. I would say that I have a full blown addiction to Starbucks- I get a venti coffee everyday and sometimes go back for seconds however my second run usually only translate to a grande. Now my drink normally runs me $5 a cup (minus all my discounts because I'm a gold card member) so if you times that by 7 days a week you do the math it's expensive! Then to add an occasional second drink that is sure hitting the pocket book. However I always budgeted for my Starbucks because it was my one indulgance that I always alloted myself and my little pick me up. I always wondered what my debit card company thought of me when they would see my automatic reload going on my card once or twice a week. They probably thought I was either A. a very generous person or B. a full blown addict to Starbucks. Well if they answered B that would be correct. I mean I could remember waking up and before I even started to function I would make my husband find the nearest Starbucks. Oh and when we travel and on our way to the airport- forget it! We normally travel early in the morning Starbucks isn't even open yet so I am a little bit irritable as I'm being cattled in line to check my bags and then security. Once we pass security I am on the hunt for the closest Starbucks- sometimes leaving the hubby to pick up the carry on's from the security check point.

As you can tell I rely on my caffeine a little to much. But again never had any reason to stop. However there are many health risks associated with coffee and because I had been experiencing some stomach issues in the last two years and sought out medical attention and all coming up with no answers I had a clean bill of health. However my stomach was saying otherwise. I remember reading the book Skinny Bitch and her putting an excerpt about caffeine and the effects it has on your body. Here is the excerpt:

Chapter 1 ~ Give It Up
Page 15-16

Think about how widely accepted it has become that people need coffee to wake up.  You should not need anything to wake up.  If you can't wake up without it, it's because you are either addicted to caffeine, sleep deprived, or a generally unhealthy slob.  It may seem like the end of the world to give up your daily dose, especially if you rely on Starbucks as a good place to meet men.  But it's not heroin, girls, and you'll learn to live without it.  Caffeine can cause headaches, digestive problems, irritation of the stomach and bladder, peptic ulcers, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, anxiety, and depression.  It affects every organ system, from the nervous system to the skin.  Caffeine raises stress hormone levels, inhibits important enzyme systems that are responsible for cleaning the body, and sensitizes nerve reception sites.  One study even links caffeine to an increased susceptibility to diabetes.  But don't go grabbing for the decaf.  Coffee, wheather regular or decaf, is highly acidic.  Acidic foods cause your body to produce fat cells, in order to keep the acid away from your organs.  (Please, do not link this acid issue to citrus... see pg. 38 in future blogs.)  So coffee equals fat cells.  P.S.  It also makes your breath smell like ass.  Furthermore, coffee beans, like other crops, are grown with chemical pesticides.  One insecticide, DD7, has been banned in the US, but is still used by other countries from which we import coffee beans.  So every single morning, you are starting your day with a dose of poison.  Add sugar or other artificial sweeteners, top it off with milk or cream, and you'll be fat forever.

YIKES!!! I know a little jaw dropping after you read this huh? Now it may make you run to your fridge and throw out all the pop and coffee.  So one day when I was at work sipping my venti coffee I had a light bulb moment maybe my stomach issues were caused by something as simple as my coffee. I nearly spit out my coffee and threw out my cup of coffee. This could be my answer.

I decided to quit cold turkey. So I was 3 days in - no urges, no headaches, no freak outs I was doing good. Plus I decided to quit on Wednesday which was right in time for lent (I'm not religious by any means but I thought it sounded good) and a few girls from work were giving up coffee well three of us coffee and one just Starbucks. So on my day 4 I got something in the mail . . .

My FREE drink from Starbucks! I quickly threw it on my desk so I was tempted to run to my neighborhood Starbucks to redeem it. So I am going strong about quitting cold turkey and I will keep you updated on my progress. I am hoping to quit for good not just for lent. So is there anything that you're giving up weather it be for lent or just because??

Fab Finds!

With my impending vacation to Vegas I have been on the hunt for a couple cute dresses to wear during the day because last year when we went in March it was hot out. Plus I could use a few cute day dresses in my wardrobe since I don't look great in shorts. I went to my go to stores first: Gap, Charlotte Russe, Forever 21, Old Navy, and I got NOTHING. I actually had ordered about 10 dresses from both Gap & Old Navy hoping that at least two would be a success. I waited for them to arrive so I could see which ones I wanted to keep. Well my order finally arrived and what a disaster that was. I tried every dress on hating each one more than the last and of course I immediately start criticizing myself and my dear husband trying to say positive. I ended up not liking any of the dresses and packed them up to be shipped back. So I ended up back at square one with no dresses and only weeks away from my vacation. The other day on my lunch break I decided to walk the mall and I walked pass H&M and they had a cute window display so I thought I would pop in to see what they had. In the past I never had good luck at H&M so I didn't have much expectation when I walked in. Well was I surprised because I was overwhelmed with the cute stuff that I saw! Some of the things they didn't have in my size but others they had in my size and they looked adorable on. Plus it was perfect vacation wear. Check out my finds.

They look adorable on trust me. I also got this cute light blue long tank top too. All 3 things only cost me $50! That is nothing- that is less than I paid on one dress at the Gap. Plus take a look at what I'm headed back to get. . .

Okay I know it may seem a little crazy to get 3 of the same dresses but if it looks good on you why not get it in all colors?? I now feel confident going on vacation looking sassy in my new dresses. Vegas here I come!!
